Habiba Ali is a 16-year-old student at Moi Girls Secondary School in Mandera County. Before WAAP’s sensitization program, many girls in her community faced early marriage, limited opportunities and a future without choice.

WAAP partnered with Moi Girls secondary school to provide education on girls’ rights, safety and the power of staying in school. Through workshops and mentorship, Habiba learned that education is her shield against violence, exploitation and early marriage.

“I used to think my future was decided for me,” Habiba says. “Now I know I have a choice. WAAP showed me that an educated girl can break the cycle of poverty.”

Today, Habiba dreams of becoming a nurse. She mentors younger girls in her community, sharing what she learned. Educated women earn more, have healthier children and send their own children to school.

Thanks to WAAP supporters, Habiba is not just attending school she is building a different future.
